A Lil (Shopping) Indiscretion Never Hurt Anyone, eh?

Since July and August's shopping budget has been blown to smithereens at the beginning of July, or should I say end of June, I thought summer shopping was a lost cause and one I shouldn't even bother rectifying (how could I, unless I decided to up the budget but who would I be kidding then, eh?). If you can't beat them, ie, these semi-annual/summer sales, then join them, isn't that what they say?

There goes another month's worth of shopping budget...

Holy moly cannoli!!! Now that I put the images in this way, clearance sale or not, what am I thinking?!? I guess I did kinda' up the budget inadvertently, didn't I? And you'd think that's it, eh? Sadly, no. Eeek!!!

Here's from the last (extra) long weekend *sigh*...

And there goes, yes, another month's worth of shopping budget... I'm telling you, the indiscretion would have been a whole lotta' worse if not for the misses *thankful sigh*

If it's any consolation, because of the awesome clearance sale, practically all the items (except the H&M ones, but it's H&M!) are 50% off, at the very least, or more. I know, I know, I did say IF it's any consolation. And strangely enough, the more I think about it, I seem to go thru this cycle of major shopping every other year. Which would make sense, I suppose, since I find stuff at the end of the season, at really low prices, but does not leave me much time to wear them for the current season but should find much usage come the year after, which would explain, I suppose, why I go for more classic cuts and colors(?)... blah, blah, blah...

And again, clearance sale or not, I know I'm calling myself out from here on out. I have to! Really, at this rate, there should be no more shopping til kingdom come...

All Day Walking, Practically

Girlfriend and I decided to walk the Seawall today. The fact that it was raining, albeit a tad, shows, I think, our dedication in trying to maintain a healthy(ier) lifestyle. HAH! Ok, maybe not that dedicated, but it should still count for something, whatever something is.

As per usual, after our walk, we were ready to fill our tummies. Well, gotta reward ourselves for that almost 10km walk, no?:p And since the temp was on the cool-ish side, we decided to go for ramen.

Pork gyoza

Spicy Akaoni

Warm to the belly, yummmmm!

I seriously thought I had no room after that late lunch but as we were about to start our "browsing" around town, I remembered this patisserie that recently opened in the area that I've been meaning to check out. May not have been the best decision, in retrospect. Why?

French macarons

... what we ended up with

LOL...

It was sooooo good! With a nice cup of Americano, how can you go wrong?!? So, yes, may not have been the best decision if you're trying not to indulge... teehee... Well, I say every once in a while is fine by me.

With our belllies really full this time and caffeine running through our veins, browse we did!

Needless to say, "all" my milestones have now been reset to Day 0. *sigh* O well...

Went to 2 of the usual "haunts"... Zara and H&M. And then a few more, in between:p Didn't get anything at Zara, whew! But alas, can't say the same for H&M. Again, o well.

You'd think we'd have been pooped by now, but apparently not. So we went to The Bay which would end up to be our last stop, for real, this time. And lookey what we found! Almost forgot about them coming to town, finally.

The whole lot was on sale too! I'm feeling my resolve, if there's any left, just totally melting away, oy! {Un}fortunately, most of the stuff in my size are gone, another whew. Saw this plain shirt with rolled sleeves that I almost got until girlfriend reminded me that I'm probably only willing to pay for it at that price because of the label, sale or not. Sadly/scarily enough, she was right. So, with a heavy/light heart (haven't quite decided), I put it back. Boo/Yay (haven't quite decided)! lol

Now, if and when:p sky's the limit, I wouldn't mind "browsing" here-

... well, a girl can dream...

2 months, and counting!

Yesterday was one of those days when I was more tired than I thought. Shoulda' known, considering I was working on some files that took me half a day to finish when it would have otherwise only taken me an hour or so. Yup. Mental fatigue has set in before I realized it.

As a little treat for myself, decided to go for mani/pedi after work. Sooo glad I did. Helped me relax a little to get my weekend starting right.

Needless to say, after having the kind of day I had, last night was not a night for cooking. Hubby and I were really tired, best we could manage was take-out from here and here, 2 of our usual back-up places when we couldn't decide where to go and/or too tired to even decide where to go. Nothing wrong with that, once in a while, right?

Lemongrass pork chop with rice and spring roll for me

Sushi (plus much more:p) for hubby
This morning, I definitely feel tons better. 9 hours of sleep, I suppose, help. And as I was talking to my sister, it occurred to me that it's been exactly 2 months today since I last bought a pair of shoes! Yes, 2 months!!! That may not mean much to some, but believe me, it does to me.

Now it feels like I have nothing to put on now. Huuhuu...

LOL. Kidding, of course! I suppose that's what's always gotten me in trouble in the past. That very reasoning. Well, at least I'm trying to do something about it now, right?

For somebody who loves shoes, I must say I've had this love-hate relationship with my feet for the longest time. My pinky toes, exactly, if I want to be more specific. For the longest time, I hated them because of the shape they're in now. As the hubby put it, this is what happens "when you insist on wearing those damn heels for 8 hours at a time" (I swear, his words exactly, LOL... ok maybe not:p). And for the longest time, neither was  I that girl to "indulge" in pedis. Not anymore, hehe. Since I've started going regularly for pedis and wearing more flats, I'm more ok now with the state of my feet/toes. Yes, these are the shallow thoughts that fill my head sometimes. *sigh* So, sue me...

And now that summer is winding down, I've thought of the footwear that never quite made it to this summer's rotation. Why? Primarily because they have heels. I do miss wearing them, so I thought I'd bring some of them out for some fresh air (guess they could be my pets too, huh?).

But hey, 2 months!!! Tic-toc, tic-toc...

Wonder Woman

No, not necessarily me. But I gotta tell ya, I guess Linda Carter's Wonder Woman of my childhood years must have stuck with me more than I thought. As far as accessories are concerned anyway, hah-hah...

Needless to say, I love cuffs, bracelets, bangles, whatever can decorate my wrist. If I'm ever asked a question about what body part I like, I may have said my gams when I was younger, but now, I will tell you it'll be my wrists.

Next to the hubby's manly (hairy:p) wrist, I love the femininity my wrist evokes. As I am definitely not a dainty girl, I take secret (well, not anymore, I suppose) pleasure in the size of my wrist. Well, I gotta celebrate something about my body, no? HAH! And at the same time, I'm not the type to parlay her femininity just for the sake of it. A woman of contradiction, I tell ya! Yup, that's me haha...

So then grew my love for wrist adornments.

I'm really loving my...

I came across this People article where they showed these celebrities rocking 1 piece of item in various ways at different times:p Here's an example, with Naomi Watts wearing her white oxfords...

Got me thinking, naturally. What do I have that I'm really loving right now? Hmmm, guess it's gonna have to be my Clarks flat that I picked up on sale at The Bay in spring.

Ok, maybe not as varied as Naomi's outfits, HAH, and I know, it's black flats, ok? But I'm just really loving it right now. The best part, I didn't think I would like it that much.

The day I got those flats are the kind of days that has gotten me in trouble before. It all started with an ubiquitous coupon I received online and what should be a quick run to the grocery store. The coupon which led me to go to the mall, which led me to go to The Bay which incidentally happened to be on my way to the grocery store, and which led me to the shoe department on the 2nd floor, which is definitely not on the way to the grocery store. Then as luck would have it, they were having this massive sale, naturally! I don't recall anymore if I actually was looking for a pair of black flats (yah, right!). Next thing I knew, I was trying it on (it felt like walking on pillows), glanced at the metallic version right next to it, went thru a moment of whether I should buy it in both colors (which I didn't, thank god said the hubby, and huuhuu said I), then just found myself walking towards the cashier with a pair tucked under my elbow. Oh, the pleasure! A pair of black flats that happens to be what I "needed", and super comfy, and best part, on sale! It was written in the stars!

I know, cray cray!!!

I tell you now, those kinds of shopping days are some of my best ones! Having said that, those same kinds of shopping days are the reasons why I'm attempting what I'm attempting. My dad used to tell the women in the family (yes, it very well could be a family infliction) that sales will always be around. Always! You miss one? There'll be another one coming shortly after. But, oh, if you could hear the excuses in my head then. I could go on forever.

I know I've only started scratching the surface here, but it's a start at least, no? I know it'll get more interesting when I've exhausted every imaginable combination in my closet to form my daily outfits. I honestly don't even know when that may be, or if I would even reach that point, hmmmmmm...
