I Think I May Have Spoken Too Soon

Not sure what happened but I've decided all of a sudden to get on the mint green skinny jeans bandwagon. I didn't feel like it when it actually first came out, what, like last summer, so why now? Hmmm... Mind you, I think what may have triggered it is the fact that I'm still seeing them in some stores. All kinds of pants in different material & cut, but alas, not the one I'm wanting. All while supposedly "trying" not to shop, yes.

So thanks to my mint green skinnies obsession, I think the shopping dry spell has officially ceased (oh noes!) and look what I found...

(American Eagle: top)

(American Eagle: jegging)

(Gap: neon belt)

(Old Navy: tube maxi dress, tank tops, $1 flip-flop; Jacob: bracelet)

I should tell you the side story about my Old Navy haul. The day after I bought these items, I received an Old Navy email alert that says 30% off total purchase for 2 days only. You have no idea the "agony" I put myself thru deciding whether to return the current haul, and re-purchase them at the new price, or just leave it be and just take advantage of the new sale with more a different purchase. CRAY CRAY, I know!!! O.o

Anyhoot, where's the mint green anything, you ask?!?!

(online purch)

Yes, I did end up using the Old Navy special. Aiyah!!... Well, I did end finding my mint green skinnies, ok?! Obsession satisfied... *sigh*

Do you succumb to these summer sales like I do? Please say yes... hehe... What's your summer sale shopping been like so far?

What's the Skinny?

Thanks to a recent email alert from Old Navy, I dragged myself to the mall over the weekend to check out the merchandise. Was that a good decision, you think? Of course not!

Old Navy Rockstar pop pants (Super Skinny)

The most ironic part is that the discount I got on the email did not apply to my purchase. MUST always read fine print! {Un}Fortunately, I love these pants so much, extra discount or not, I figured I might as well get them since they were already way discounted to begin with. The way I saw it, I've spent twice the amount for just 1 pair in the past(!), that these were definitely still smart buys.

I seriously don't even know how I started accumulating so many of these skinny jeans, be it colored, patterned, whatever...

Gap Always Skinny

Got that some 2 or 3 years back. My first colored skinny jeans. And it continues to be one of my fave.

American Eagle jeggings

Then somehow, last year, I got obsessed with that cobalt blue one that I just had to get it. I suppose that was the end of it.

And so it goes...

MAJOR sigh... and I have not even included the regular ones, as in regular denim in blue and black. Again, MAJOR sigh. And please don't bother shaking your head. Between me and hubby, especially hubby, there's enough shaking head to last me a lifetime.

The best part about this is I don't even really know if they suit my body type. They must since I haven't heard a scathing remark as yet. All I know is I like them (reallly?!?) They're so convenient, and comfortable. I wear them with flats in the summer. I tuck them in my boots in the winter. So I guess regardless whether they suit me or not, those are good enough reasons in my book. Besides, I've got them now, don't I?

HAH!

(On 3 now... *shake head*)

All Over the Place

Today, yes, literally! A colleague and I had to visit various offices to talk to people about a pending major change. We ended up visiting 6 offices spread throughout the city. It didn't appear to be much work, but having to talk to every single person at every office and maintaining a certain level of energy all day, boy, I was just pooped at the end of it. The best part, we do it all over again tomorrow, wheee!!!

And to add the weekend that just passed seemed all over the place as well, heck I guess my thoughts have been scattered around for a good few days now...

Anyhoot, with the Black Friday that just passed, Canadian retailers have now figured that they should participate now as well so Canadians wouldn't find the need anymore to cross the border to get advantage of sales. I didn't think it would really make a difference but I guess I was wrong. The mall that I went to was buzzzy! It's like Boxing Day, but only in November. It was cray cray! Fortunately, I didn't get carried away...

Bath & Body anti-bacterial hand soaps

Needed to refill our stash so the deal couldn't have come at a better time.

American Eagle jeggings

I had to recently dispose of 2 black jeans thanks to that common(?) problem of thinning out and ripping at the inner thigh (is it just me? eeep). At 40% off, I figured, again, the deal couldn't have come at a better time. And that was it! Whew!

Then, yesterday, I decided last minute to recreate the steak dish I had at the wedding I went to last Friday night.

Ribeye steak with broccolini on a bed of mashed potato

I thought it was just as delish as the wedding steak, albeit not as nicely plated and the portion is a tad(?) bigger. I learned it takes a great deal more butter than I anticipated to make it just as delish, but you're definitely not gonna hear me complain, nope. Hah!

And since I painted my nail that nice dark wine color last week, I couldn't resist going even a bit more dark this time.

All over the place, aren't I?! And like I said, we get to do it again tomorrow, so looking forward to it! *snort*

Birthday Gift to Myself

Old Navy haul

Ok, not really. I guess I just said that to make myself feel better. Why? Do I feel bad? No. Guilty? No. Maybe. Who am I kidding? Well, actually I suppose you can say it is. I got a mailer alert week before last about a sale on their Rockstar jeans, placed the order last week, the week of my birthday, so yes, it is kinda', no? Again, who am I kidding?!? I know, no one!!! HAH!

What just happened?!? I don't even like online shopping!!! And not even really a big fan of Old Navy!!! AND I actually love my purchases!!! Eeeeek!

Rockstar Super Skinny jeans (in Grey), $16.15

I finally succumbed to the hype around these jeans. Now I know why. I got a size bigger 'cause that what seems to be the recommendation all around. Oh, plus it was the only size available when I bought it (popular sale was right!) hehe... Luckily, since their leg width tends to be on the tad narrow side for my built, it worked that I got the bigger size. The waist is a lil big but nothing that a belt couldn't fix. Whew!

Floral Chiffon dress, $23.80

I know summer's over but what can I say, the color and the flowers just grabbed me.

Cap-Toe ballet flats, $17.00

It had me at ballet. Then add the yellow on top of that. And I know it was comfy 'cause I did try it once at the store.

Why didn't I stop at just the jeans, when that's all I was really interested in? Do I need to answer that? Ok, if I must, the other 2 items are on sale as well, plus there was an additional 15% going on at the time, plus I didn't want to pay for shipping so I thought I'd meet the minimum purchase. So yes, rather than pay $8 for shipping, I spent an additional $40. HAH!

Am I smart, or am I smart!

Anyhoot, our wedding anniversary falls shortly after my birthday. We usually just celebrate the milestone ones (kinda' gives you an idea how long we've been married if we're now talking milestones, eh?) and this year was a quiet one. Didn't really expect anything.

Guess I was wrong. Definitely one of the rare occasions when I was happy to be wrong. HAH!

A Lil (Shopping) Indiscretion Never Hurt Anyone, eh?

Since July and August's shopping budget has been blown to smithereens at the beginning of July, or should I say end of June, I thought summer shopping was a lost cause and one I shouldn't even bother rectifying (how could I, unless I decided to up the budget but who would I be kidding then, eh?). If you can't beat them, ie, these semi-annual/summer sales, then join them, isn't that what they say?

There goes another month's worth of shopping budget...

Holy moly cannoli!!! Now that I put the images in this way, clearance sale or not, what am I thinking?!? I guess I did kinda' up the budget inadvertently, didn't I? And you'd think that's it, eh? Sadly, no. Eeek!!!

Here's from the last (extra) long weekend *sigh*...

Expression sandals (The Bay)

Melia sandals (The Bay)

H&M striped shirt

H&M dotted blouse
Old Navy gingham shirt

Old Navy ballet flats

And there goes, yes, another month's worth of shopping budget... I'm telling you, the indiscretion would have been a whole lotta' worse if not for the misses *thankful sigh*

If it's any consolation, because of the awesome clearance sale, practically all the items (except the H&M ones, but it's H&M!) are 50% off, at the very least, or more. I know, I know, I did say IF it's any consolation. And strangely enough, the more I think about it, I seem to go thru this cycle of major shopping every other year. Which would make sense, I suppose, since I find stuff at the end of the season, at really low prices, but does not leave me much time to wear them for the current season but should find much usage come the year after, which would explain, I suppose, why I go for more classic cuts and colors(?)... blah, blah, blah...

And again, clearance sale or not, I know I'm calling myself out from here on out. I have to! Really, at this rate, there should be no more shopping til kingdom come...

Online Shopping

For all sorts of reasons in my head, never really been a big fan of online shopping. Weird, I know. Especially in this day and age!

For the first time ever though (yes, first time! cray cray!), I caved in. Damn you irresistable sale price! And color/style too, of course! hehe

Was it worth it? Uhmm, ya-ah!

Vintage Matchstick Skinny Leg cord in Dusty Clay

First, the item is not even available at the local J Crew (which incidentally just opened last month), which I could understand since it's not of the current stock. Second, I was looking (yes, looking) for pants in pastel shade. Third, one word, clearance! The same style of pants, albeit different fabric, is being sold in store for $115. Ok, I know I've paid more for some of my jeans, but for what I'm looking for, couldn't really see myself shelling out that kinda' dough. And last and definitely not least, it fits me nicely, yay!

... I say ignore the bunching; it was the angle, I swear:p

I may have mentioned it in the past, I'm the type of shopper who likes to touch/feel fabric, and I'm usually all about instant gratification when it comes to shopping. But for this one, I thought I could forego those feelings temporarily.

Will I do it again? Who knows. Slippery slopes...

Which now brings me to my budget "goal" (yes, in " ", I admit, seeing my lack of success so far, but who wants to focus on the negative). This pair costed me $36.82 (with taxes + shipping), which now means my shopping expenditure for the month comes to $102.88. So, that's $2.88 over so far, mid-month... Hmmm, where have I heard that line before?

14 more days to go... slippery slopes... 14 more days to go...

Out with Friends

Last night, celebrated my birthday some more with a couple of friends. We decided to go to Coast Restaurant. The place was alright. The highlight of the evening, funny enough, became the birthday cake that wasn't.

My friends, without my knowledge, decided to get me a birthday cake at a different bakery. Turned out the restaurant "cannot" serve outside food. So, they offered to put my cake in their fridge, put it out at the end of our meal, for me to see, and put it away once more until we're ready to leave. Hah!

Dulce de Leche

To their credit, I must say, they offered a complimentary dessert platter for the inconvenience.

NY cheesecake & peanut butter cake pop,
sea foam in dark chocolate & white chocolate pieces (not showing)

A quirky surprise was the pop rock in the peanut butter cake pop. Tickle, tickle...

So, that made it 3 cakes, in total, not counting the restaurant's offering. Fancy that!:)

Then earlier today, girlfriend and I ended up meeting for lunch. Originally for coffee only but since we both haven't had lunch at the time we decided to meet, it ended up being for lunch then coffee afterwards.

We practically had the same route like the other time we met up. Deja vu... almost...

As it was cool-ish kinda' day, we ended up the same ramen place. This time, I got this.

Miso ramen
... with kimchi

And lest we forget dessert. Just like before, we ended at the same patisserie... teehee...

Apple Tart

Gateau Basque

... with a cup of Americano

With our belly sated, what choice do we have but burn it off by walking around the shops, naturally!

Suffice it to say, one of my recent obsessions I've mentioned before has now come to "materialize". *eeek*

American Eagle Outfitter cobalt blue jeggings

I really gotta do something about these obsessions. As in stop having these obsessions, perhaps?!?! Hmmmm...
